Moving to Maine
Josh and I and moving to Maine! After almost 7 years together we've finally got the chance to live together.
It's bittersweet, leaving behind MA family, friends, and coworkers, but also exciting to be closer to ME family, explore new opportunities and for J and I to start building a life and home together.
I'm hoping to document some of that here. I've been asked by some friends in MA if there's a place to keep up with what we'll be doing in ME, and I considered giving them my Instagram, but I'm not so sure I'll be using it much now anyway.
I'm pretty disenchanted with social media as a whole - TikTok bending the knee to the 47th president, Meta ending it's fact checking program, dismantling it's DEI team, as well as becoming an increasingly unwelcome place for the LGBTQIA+ community. And don't get me started on Muskrat and X. Or the use of AI everywhere.
So here we are on Blogger, a place I hope is less problematic (if I'm wrong, dear gourd, let me know!). I know Substack is all the rage, but it feels too weird to send an actual newsletter to people, and like a site more geared toward professionals and those with something to sell.
We haven't fully moved yet, but we do (finally) have a timeline, and I'm very excited to start our journey. Less excited by how endless the packing seems - there's no way my room hasn't had that undetectable extension charm Hermione put on her purse in Deathly Hallows. No way.
(And for the record, though I may reference HP, I do not support the close-minded and harmful views of it's author. Just want that to be clear!)
So for now, we're packing, well, mostly I'm packing, and doing a few trips up north to bring our - my - mountain of boxes. There won't be much to update until March, most likely, but I was too excited not to get this started now.
See you when we get uppyondah!
Sarah
